American painter, Karine van de Velde was born in Stockholm, Sweden.
She was seven when she left Europe to live in West Africa, where she stayed over fifteen years.
Descendant from a famous family of dutch painters( Willem van de Velde 1633-1707) and nearer, great niece of Henry van de Velde (1863-1957),she started painting when she returned from Africa.
... She now lives near Cannes, in the wonderful Côte d'Azur.
Entirely self-taught,she paints the landscapes of the Sahara desert and its inhabitants. The delicacy of her paintings, the warm colors of the dunes and the blue tones of the Touaregs veils makes her an artist apart.
She did a few exhibitions in Côte d'Azur and was the guest artist in the Congress Center of Grasse in october 1998 during an international exhibition
